Course Description

The Diploma of Leisure and Health (CHC54315) will allow candidates to gain knowledge and skills in the core areas of Leisure & Health. This will allow you to make comprehensive assessments of a client’s profile and utilise this information to contribute to leisure & health programs and evaluate their success.

Entry Requirements

Domestic Students
There is no qualification or educational prerequisites to gain entry into the Diploma of Leisure and Health

  • All potential students must attend a compulsory information
  • Skills Training Australia will conduct a review of your current competencies, including language, literacy and numeracy skills, in order to ensure this is the most appropriate qualification to achieve your intended outcomes
  • Students wishing to apply for a Commonwealth VET Student Loan must be assessed for academic suitability to undertake a high level VET qualification. This academic assessment is in addition to any entry requirements that may be required for the specific course a student wishes to undertake. For further information please refer to our VET Student Loans page.

VET student loans will not be approved for students who do not meet eligibility requirements

A VET student loan gives rise to a HELP debt that continues to be a debt due to the Commonwealth until it is repaid

Structure

  • Delivered as a face to face
  • On campus, face to face training.
  • 1 day per week

Units

The Diploma of Leisure and Health consists of 22 units, of these 22 units, 15 are core and 7 are electives.

HLTWHS003 Maintain work health and safety
CHCCCS023 Support independence and wellbeing
BSBMGT401 Show leadership in the workplace
CHCDIS008 Facilitate community participation and social inclusion
CHCDIS009 Facilitate ongoing skills development using a person-centered approach

CHCLAH002 Contribute to leisure and health programming
CHCLAH003 Participate in planning, implementation and monitoring of individual leisure and health programs
CHCLAH004 Participate in planning leisure and health programs for clients with complex needs
CHCLAH005 Incorporate lifespan development and sociological concepts into leisure and health programming
CHCLAH006 Coordinate planning, implementation and monitoring of leisure and health programs
CHCLAH008 Provide leisure education
CHCLAH009 Apply concepts of human psychology to facilitate involvement in leisure programs
CHCMHS001 Work with people with mental health issues

Fees

Domestic Students

  • Full Fee = $8,000.
  • Skills First Funded Fee = $1,800.

Placement

  • 240 hours placement
  • Delivered in 2, 4 week blocks, Monday - Friday.
  • All placements for Leisure and Health must be sourced by the student.
