Skills First Funding

The Skills First Program is a Victorian State Government scheme that provides access to government subsidies training to eligible individuals for specific courses. If an individual is eligible, the government will contribute to the cost of the training.

Eligibility

Eligibility requirements for the Skills First Program include the following:

  • An individual must be an Australian Citizen; a holder of a Permanent Visa or a New Zealand citizen
  • Be either:
    • under 20 years of age (as at 1 January in the year of commencement of training) and seeking to enrol in nationally recognised training; or
    • over 20 years of age (as at 1 January in the year of commencement of training) and seeking to enrol in nationally recognised training in a course that is at a higher qualification level than the highest qualification held at the time of the scheduled commencement of training.

HLT54115 Diploma of Nursing

CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support
CHC43415 Certificate IV in Leisure & Health
CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support
CHC53415 Diploma of Leisure & Health

Concession

Depending upon circumstances, an eligible individual may be eligible for a concession.

Concessions on tuition fees are available for government-subsidised training in courses below diploma level; and for training at any level (including diploma level and above) for Indigenous students.

Domestic Course Fees

Skills Training Australia has been approved for the Skills First Program (VIC) for eligible individuals seeking subsidised funding for specific courses.
