STA at Dementia & Recreation Conference
Thank you to all the Dementia & Recreation conference delegates from around Australia who visited us at the Skills Training Australia stand last Wednesday and Thursday (17-18 August 2016 - Caulfield Racecourse Melbourne). It was especially pleasing to see so many past and current STA Leisure and Health students (now current practitioners). We are proud to see that you are keeping abreast with the latest practice and industry innovations that will add to your portfolio of leisure activities.
Congratulations to your managers who provide you with the opportunities to attend these events. Most importantly, we are confident that your clients will reap the benefits from the learnings you are taking back to your workplace.
The conference was also an opportunity for all the STA leisure and health trainers to hear and interact with the conference presenters and participants.
We hope to see you again in October at the upcoming Diversional Therapy Australia Conference in Sydney. Visit http://diversionaltherapy.org.au/Professional-Development/Conference
We encourage you to spread the word about the benefits and job opportunities of undertaking the Certificate IV in Leisure & Health or the Diploma of Leisure & Health with Skills Training Australia. The demonstrated benefits and improvement in health and wellbeing of someone by participating in a diversional therapy or leisure program are also being reflected in workforce trends. We are seeing that more qualified lifestyle/diversional therapy workers are being employed in a range of sectors, including disability, home and community care, day centre programs (including respite for carers), planned activity groups and of course residential aged care.
